Achieving Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Requirements

Those providers who engaged in the Medicaid meaningful use program in 2011–2016 are required to participate in the program for six years. Starting in 2019, the Medicaid meaningful use program was renamed Promoting Interoperability. Despite sharing a name with it's counterpart in the Medicare MIPS program, Medicaid Promoting Interoperability has different requirements. 2021 will be the final performance year for Medicaid Promoting Interoperability.

To be eligible for the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability program, 30% of your patient volume must be traditional Medicaid patients. You must complete 90-days of promoting interoperability using a 2015-edition certified EHR.

Promoting interoperability has changed in 2019. There are no longer base and performance scores; but rather, there is one set of measures that you must report. Click the measure name to learn more about that measure and how to achieve it in ExamWRITER.
