Loading Frames Data SPEX UPC Collections
You can load one (and up to a maximum of five) Frames Data SPEX UPC collection at a time, automatically add the collection to the database, and assign retail prices and costs to the frames.
- We recommend that you load only the frames from the collections you sell and that you do not load the entire frames catalog.
- For multitenant environments, ensure that the frames loaded are mapped and priced for all companies. See Adding and Changing Pricing for Frames.
To load Frames Data SPEX UPC collections and price frames
- Create a SpexUPC folder on the C drive of IIS on your server (C:\SpexUPC), and ensure that you have permission to access the files that you copy to the folder. If a SpexUPC folder already exists in that location, delete all of the contents from the folder.
- Insert the Frames Data SPEX UPC CD into your computer, and copy only the contents of the SpexUPC folder on the CD to the folder created in step 1.
You can follow the same process if Frames Data gave you an electronic file instead of a CD.Do not copy all of the contents on the CD to your server. Copy only the contents of the SpexUPC folder to your server.
- Open AcuityLogic Admin.
- Click Product, select Frames, and select Frame Spex.
The Spex Frame Control window opens.

To load new collections, click Load Spex Collections, and then click OK in the confirmation message.
New CD appears in the Status column of each collection added from the CD. The status changes to Some Collections Loaded after you load at least one collection. - Click the Manufacturer link next to the collection schedule to load.
- In the Spex Collections window, select a manufacturer from the Manufacturer drop-down list, and click Find.
- In the row of the manufacturer to load, click the Collections link.
The collections are loaded. Collections for which the New Style and New Frame check boxes are selected have new style and frame information available to load.
- Map any unmapped collections (denoted by blank rows in the AcuityLogic Collection column) as follows:
- In the collection's row, click Edit.
- From the AcuityLogic Collection drop-down list, select one of the following:
- An AcuityLogic collection name
- Create New to use the corresponding Spex collection name as the AcuityLogic collection name
- Click Update to map the Frames Data SPEX UPC collection to an AcuityLogic collection.
- To select and load the styles within a collection, click the collection's Items link.
The SpexFrame Items window opens.
- In the Style drop-down list, select only the styles you want to search for, and click Find.
The search results are listed in the SpexFrame Items table.
- Select the Include check box of the styles you want to load.
- To include all styles in the window, select the check box at the top of the Include column.
- To include all styles on all pages, click Select All Items.
- To deselect all styles on all pages, click Deselect All Items.
- To load new items as active instead of inactive, select the Load New Items as Active check box. The status of existing items does not change.
- To override the default cost (the cost you pay) of existing items with values that you record, select the Override Existing Default Cost check box.
- To override the measurements of existing items with values from the Frames Data SPEX UPC CD, select the Override Existing Measurements check box.
- To display discontinued items in addition to active items from the Frames Data SPEX UPC, select the Show Discontinued check box.
- If the default cost for a selected item is different from the wholesale price, enter the different cost in the Default Cost column.
- Do one of the following:
- To automatically create a default retail price list for the entire collection using the same markup, go to step 19.
- To manually price individual items, enter the default price for each item in the Item Price (Default PriceList) column, and then go to step 20.
- To automatically create a default retail price list for the entire collection using the same markup:
- Click Bulk Pricing to open the Pricing window.
- Select the appropriate Markup Type radio buttons:
- Percentage: Marks up the price by a percentage.
- Multiplier: Marks up the price by a multiple number.
- $ Up(+): Increases the price by a specified dollar amount.
- $ Down(-): Decreases the price by a specified dollar amount.
- In the WholeSale Pricing Markup fields under the selected markup types, enter the appropriate dollar or percentage values.
- For example, to increase the cost of frames in a collection by 5% and then add $10 to the increased price, select Percentage, enter 5 in the field under it, select $ Up(+), and enter 10 in the field under it.
- To decrease the cost of frames in a discontinued collection by $30, select $ Down (-), and enter 30 in the field under it.
- To end all prices with the same number of dollars and cents (for example, 9.99, 99.99, or 159.99), enter the dollars and cents in the Round Up To field.For example, if your prices end with 9.99 (99.99, 159.99, 209.99, and so on), enter 9.99 in the Round Up To field. Or if your prices end with 0.99 (10.99, 200.99, 359.99, and so on), enter x.99 in the Round Up To field.
- Click Calculate.
- Click Load Items.
- After the frame styles are loaded, click OK in the confirmation message.
- Click Cancel.
- Click Return.
- Repeat steps 7–22 for each collection that you want to load.
After you load frame collections, you can maintain frame item information, vendors, images, and pricing and map partners in the Frames window.
