Creating or Opening a Visit
You can create a new visit from the Quick List, the Home page, or from the patient's chart. If you schedule patients in a practice management system that's tied to Encompass, you should create visits from the Quick List to link the visit to the appointment. This topic describes how

- Hover over the Patients tab and select Quick List.
- Apply any filters, as needed, to display your Quick List.
- Locate the patient for which you want to open a new visit.
- Click Create/Link Visit.
The Visit Overview screen appears and a visit is created for today.
The Quick List is updated with the time of the patient’s visit.

- Open the patient's chart.
- Click the Create New Visit button on the Action Bar.
The Visit Overview screen appears and a visit is created for today.
To document situations that don't involve an exam, click the New Non-Visit Order action bar icon. This creates a nonvisit order, which is useful for documenting contact lens followups or prescribing medications outside of a visit.

- Open the patient's chart.
- Click the date of the visit you want to open.
The Visit Overview screen shows the details for the visit.
