Importing Medication History From Surescripts

If a patient has previously filled electronic prescriptions with a pharmacy in the Surescripts network, you can import their medication history directly into Eyefinity EHR. Before you can import their medication list, you'll need to document that you've acquired consent to do so from the patient.

To import a patient's Rx history

  1. Open the patient’s Clipboard.
  2. Click the Medications button.

If the Import History button is grayed out, you'll need to document that the patient has given their consent before you can import their Rx history. If the Import History button is already blue, you can skip ahead to step 7.

  3. Click Edit Import Settings.
  4. If the patient has given their consent to have their medications imported, select Yes for Rx History Import Consent using the drop-down list.
  5. Select the patient's Primary Provider using the drop-down list.

If you are the doctor currently examining the patient, select your own name.

  6. Click Save.

The Import History button turns blue and becomes functional.

  7. Click Import History.

The Manage Medications screen opens, displaying Current Patient Medications you've already documented on the left and any medications that are New From Pharmacy on the right.

Only medications that have been electronically prescribed will appear under New From Pharmacy. For example, any prescription a doctor wrote on paper that a patient then handed in to the pharmacy will not appear in this area.

  8. Under New From Pharmacy, select the check box for every medication you want to import.
  9. Indicate whether those medications are active or inactive.
  10. Click Import.
