Managing a Patient's Access to Visit Notes

By default, patients will be able to view their finalized visit notes from their patient portal. If a note is still in "preliminary" status, the patient can view education for the various problems, diagnoses, medications, and lab results documented as a part of that visit, but they won't be able to view the actual visit note. If you want to prevent a patient from accessing a visit note, you can hide it from their portal.

To hide a visit from a patient's portal

1. Navigate to the patient's chart.
2. Locate the visit you want to hide from the patient's list of visits.

3. Select Hide from Portal for the visit you want to hide.

   The visit is hidden. To make the visit appear in the patient's portal again, select Show in Portal.
