Scanning Documents

You can scan and import documents directly from your scanner to Eyefinity EHR.

Your scanner must be compatible with a TWAIN driver to interface with Eyefinity EHR. Most modern scanners support TWAIN drivers. If you're not sure whether or not your scanner is compatible with TWAIN drivers, contact your device's manufacturer. This section covers how

To scan directly into Eyefinity EHR

  1. Open a patient's chart or visit that you want to attach a scan to.
  2. Click the Manage Attachments button on the action bar.
  3. Click Upload Files.
  4. Click Scan and Upload Document.

    If this is your first time scanning into Eyefinity EHR from your computer, you'll be instructed to download and install a small file that will enable Eyefinity EHR to communicate directly with your scanner.

  5. Click Download.
  6. Open and install the file once the download is complete.

    The Installation Wizard will walk you through the short steps necessary to complete setup. You only need to perform this setup once per computer.

  7. Refresh your browser once the setup is complete.
  8. Click Scan and Upload Document.
  9. Select your scanner from the drop-down list.
  10. Select whether you want to upload the scanned attachment as a PDF or PNG.
  11. Select Scan both sides if the document is two-sided.

    Not all scanners are capable of two-sided scanning. This option is only available if you're uploading the scan as a PDF.

  12. Click Scan.

    After your scanner scans the document, it generates a preview. Using the preview window, you can associate the scan with a Patient and Visit. This information may populate automatically depending on what area of Eyefinity EHR you initiated the scan from. You can also select a Category for the scan and associate it with a Plan if you've selected a visit.

  13. Enter a Title for the scan.
  14. Click Upload to upload the scan or Upload and Scan New to continue scanning additional documents.
