Reconciling Imported Medications and Allergies

You may be presented with a pop-up window that asks you to select medications or allergies when you open a patient's chart. This happens if imported information does not include a valid RxNorm code. RxNorm codes enable the system to check for drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions, and sometimes, information imported from other systems are missing these codes. This is a rare situation. You can dismiss the pop-up, but it will appear again next time you access the patient's chart.

Here's how to reconcile medications and allergies with missing codes:

  1. Review the imported medication or allergy.
  2. Enter the Replace With medication or allergy. Often you can simply type the same word displayed in the left column.
  3. Select the correct medication or allergy from the typeahead list.
  4. Tap Done when you are finished.
