Documenting Pretesting Information in the Visit Overview (Web)
Document pretesting and diagnostic data in the Vision Exam within the Visit Overview. To turn the Vision Exam section in the Visit Overview from orange to green, you'll need to document the following areas:
- Pupils
- Visual fields
- Motility
- IOP
- Visual acuity
The tabs of these areas are marked with an asterisk in Encompass to remind you that they're required to turn the Vision Exam section from orange to green in the Visit Overview.
What do you want to do?
Enter pupil findings
If you marked Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Pupils.
- Click the Mark as Normal button;
OR
Select a status from the Result drop-down menu and document the pupil measurements and reactions.
- Click Save.
Enter motility findings
If you tapped Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Motility.
- Click the Mark as Normal button;
OR
Select a status from the Result drop-down menu and document the motility.
- Alternatively, type free-form notes in the Other field.
- Click Save.
Enter visual field readings
If you tapped Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Visual Fields.
- Click the Mark as Normal button;
OR
Select a status from the Result drop-down menu and document.
- Mark any problem areas on the Details drawing.
- Tap Save to advance to the next section.
The default test type is Confrontation Visual Fields. This field is sticky, which means you're always presented with the last option you selected.
Under Test Result, you can also select “Attempted but not achieved.”
Enter IOP readings
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select IOP.
- Select the Measurement, Method, and Reliability.
Under the Measurement drop-down menu, you can select "Attempted but not achieved."
- Click Save.
Enter uncorrected visual acuity findings for an adult
If you documented the visual acuities in the Wearing Rx tab, you do not need to document them again in the Visual Acuity tab.
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Visual Acuity (Va).
- In the Uncorrected sections, select the Distance Test Type and Near Test Type.
These fields are sticky, which means that you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
- Click Add UnCorrected.
- Document the Visual Acuity, PH Value, and Other measurements.
- Click Save.
Enter corrected visual acuity findings for an adult
If you documented the visual acuities in the Wearing Rx tab, you do not need to document them again in the Visual Acuity tab.
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Visual Acuity (Va).
- In the Corrected sections, select the Distance Test Type and Near Test Type.
These fields are sticky, which means you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
- Select the Distance Correction Type and Near Correction Type.
- Click Add Corrected.
- Document the Visual Acuity, PH Value, and Other measurements.
- Click Save.
Enter visual acuity findings for an infant
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Visual Acuity (Va).
- Scroll down to the Infant Vision section.
- Select the values for the CSM Method from the drop-down menus.
- Click Save.
Enter dilation readings
- Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
- Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Diagnostic Drops.
- Click the Drops instilled in clinic radio button.
- In the Dilation Drops drop-down, select the dilation solution used for each eye.
This field is sticky, which means you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
You can add multiple brands/strengths to this field. If you need to remove a brand or strength, tap the ×.
- To copy the prescription for the right eye to the left eye, click Copy OD to OS.
- Click the Yes radio button under Counsel to indicate whether you have counseled the patient.
- Click Save.
