019. Diabetic Retinopathy: Communication with the Physician Managing Ongoing Diabetes Care

Examine the macula and fundus:

1. Document a dilated eye exam.
2. Document your findings on the Fundus tab.
3. Select a diabetic retinopathy Diagnosis.
4. Select a counseling Plan and tap Save.
5. Review the ICD-10 Expert:
   1. Locate the ICD-10 Expert section and tap Edit.
   2. Select the appropriate conditions from the Severity and Macular Edema drop-downs and tap Save.
6. Document communication with a physician:
   1. Locate the Counseling - Diabetic Retinopathy plan and tap Resume.
   2. Tap the Diabetic Retinopaty tab.
   3. Select the appropriate communication from the CMS 142A or CMS 142B drop-downs.
   4. Tap Done.
7. Document the rest of the visit and Finalize.

Alternatively, code quality with a special plan:

1. Document a Diagnosis and Plan as you normally would.
2. Under Impressions and Plans, tap Special Plans and select MIPS.
3. From Popular Plans, select MIPS Quality.
4. Locate the MIPS Quality plan and tap Resume.
5. Tap the Diabetic Retinopathy tab.
6. Select the appropriate communication from the CMS 142A or CMS 142B drop-downs.
7. Tap Done.
8. Document the rest of the visit and Finalize.
