Faxing Autoletters from the iPad App
You can fax an autoletter (or queue it for faxing later)directly from the iPad app. There's no need to connect to a phone line—Eyefinity EHR will transmit the fax for you. This topic covers how
- Select a patient.
- Open a visit note.
- Tap the More icon at the top of the screen, and tap Auto Letter.
The Auto Letter screen opens.
- Navigate to the Auto Letter screen.
- Tap the To text box.
- Enter the first few letters of the referral provider’s first name, last name, or specialty.
- Then, select the provider from the suggested list.
The suggested list displays the provider's name, practice name. If one provider sees patients at more than one clinic, or if there are two providers with similar names, the practice name and specialty can help you determine the correct recipient.
- Navigate to the Auto Letter screen.
- Tap the Send to Number toggle.
- Tap the Fax Number text box.
- Enter the fax number.
- Select a Template.
The text editor displays the autoletter text, complete with the exam data. You can tap the text to edit it.

To add text to the fax header, such as supplementary contact and practice information, select the Header options:
- To add text defined by your practice administrator, tap the Template tab, tap the drop-down below the tab, and select a template from the list; OR
- To add your own text, tap the Custom tab, tap the Custom Header Text field, and enter the text you want to display in the header.
- To attach documents you want to include, click the + button.
You can include File Attachments, Visit Notes, Orders, and Chart Notes.
- Toggle the options below the text editor on or off as needed.
Save fax note to patient's chart when sending. Saves a copy of the autoletter and attachments as an attachment to the patient chart.
The following options append additional pages to the fax:
- HIPAA Cover sheet. Includes a cover page with a legal statement about the confidentiality of contents of the fax.
- CCD. Includes a human-readable version of the continuity of care document (CCD). The CCD is usually sent electronically through direct messaging.
- Summary. Includes a summary of the diagnoses and plans. This information may already be included in the autoletter template.
- Face Sheet. The face sheet includes patient demographic information and appears after the HIPAA cover sheet and summary if those options are selected.
- Body Dagram. This function is not in use at this time.
- Tap Print to preview the fax.
The Printer Options window displays the autoletter and any additional pages the recipient will receive. To take a closer look, pinch and spread any page.
- Tap Cancel to return.
- Tap Fax to fax the autoletter immediately, or tap Save to Queue to fax the autoletter later.
