Importing Medications from Surescripts on the iPad
If a patient has previously filled electronic prescriptions with a pharmacy in the Surescripts network, you can import their medication history directly into Eyefinity EHR. Before you can import their medication list, you'll need to document that you've acquired consent to do so from the patient.
To import a patient's Rx history on the iPad
- Open the patient’s Clipboard.
- Tap the Medications tab.
-
Tap Import.
A list of import options appears. If the Import from Pharmacy option is grayed out, you'll need to document that the patient has given their consent before you can import their Rx history. If the Import from Pharmacy button is not grayed out, you can skip ahead to step 7.
- Tap Edit Import Settings.
- If the patient has given their consent to have their medications imported, select Yes for Rx History Import Consent using the drop-down list.
-
Tap Save.
The consent is documented, and the window closes.
- Tap Import.
-
Tap Import from Pharmacy.
The Import Medications From Pharmacy screen opens, displaying Current Medications you've already documented on the left and any New Medications to Import on the right.
Only medications that have been electronically prescribed will appear under New Medications to Import. For example, any prescription a doctor wrote on paper that a patient then handed in to the pharmacy will not appear in this area.
- Under New Medications to Import, select any medications you want to import.
-
Indicate whether those medications are active or inactive.
You can use the Bulk Select and Set Status drop-down lists to quickly select or set the status for all medications in the list.
- Tap Import.
