Documenting Pretesting Information in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad)
Document pretesting and diagnostic data in the Vision Exam within the Detailed Visit Overview. To turn the Vision Exam section in the Detailed Visit Overview from orange to green, you'll need to document the following areas:
- Pupils
- Visual fields
- Motility
- IOP
- Visual acuity
The tabs of these areas are marked with an asterisk in Encompass to remind you that they're required to turn the Vision Exam section from orange to green in the Detailed Visit Overview.
What do you want to do?

Save time by completing three sections with a tap.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Pupils, VF, Motility Normal option in the upper-right corner of the screen.
The pupils, visual fields, and motility sections are marked as normal. You can skip these tabs in the Vision Exam.

If you tapped Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Pupils tab.
- Tap the Mark as Normal link in the upper-right corner;
OR
Select a status from the Result drop-down menu and document the pupil measurements and reactions.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

If you tapped Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Visual Fields tab.
- Tap Mark as Normal.
- OR
- Select the Test Type and Test Results.
The default test type is Confrontation Visual Fields. This field is sticky, which means you're always presented with the last option you selected.
Under Test Result, you can also select “Attempted but not achieved.”
- Mark any problem areas on the Details drawing.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

If you tapped Pupils, VF, Motility Normal, you can skip this section.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Motility) tab.
- Tap Mark as Normal.
OR
Select a status from the Motility drop-down menu.
- Alternatively, type free-form notes in the Other field.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the IOP tab.
- Select the Method, Measurement, and Reliability.
Under the Measurement drop-down menu, you can select "Attempted but not achieved."
- Tap Save.

If you documented the visual acuities in the Wearing Rx tab, you do not need to document them again in the Visual Acuity tab.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Visual Acuity (VA) tab.
- Select the Distance Test Type and Near Test Type.
These fields are sticky, which means that you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
- Tap Add Unorrected.
- Document the Visual Acuity, PH Value, and Other measurements, and tap Save.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

If you documented the visual acuities in the Wearing Rx tab, you do not need to document them again in the Visual Acuity tab.
- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Visual Acuity (VA) tab.
- Select the Distance Test Type and Near Test Type.
These fields are sticky, which means you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
- Select the Distance Correction Type and Near Correction Type.
- Tap Add Corrected.
- Document the Visual Acuity, PH Value, and Other measurements, and tap Save.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam in the Detailed Visit Overview (iPad).
- Tap the Visual Acuity (VA) tab.
- Tap the Infant Vision tab.
- Select the values for the CSM Method from the drop-down menus.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.

- Open the Vision Exam screen. To learn how, go to Opening the Vision Exam Screen in the iPad App.
- Tap theDiagnostic Drops tab.
- In the Dilation Drops drop-down, select the dilation solution used for each eye.
This field is sticky, which means you will always be presented with the last option you selected.
You can add multiple brands/strengths to this field. If you need to remove a brand or strength, tap the ×.
- To copy the prescription for the right eye to the left eye, tap Copy OD to OS.
- Tap the Counsel toggle to indicate whether you have counseled the patient.
- Tap Save or Save and Continue to advance to the next section.
