Setting Up Required Patient Profile Fields

  1. From the menu, select Preferences and then Patient.
  2. Select one or more of the following fields to be required when the staff creates a new patient profile:
    • Title
    • Email
    • SSN
    • HIPAA Signature on File
  3. To require staff enter a responsible party when adding patients under the age of 18, select Enforce Responsible Party for Minor.
  4. To require all Demographics information be filled in before users can enter orders, select Required Demographics for Order Creation. When users begin an order for a patient with missing demographic information, the Edit Patient window will open. They will not be able to proceed with the order until all the information is filled in and saved.
  5. If you plan to achieve Meaningful Use through the HITECH Act, select the check box under Participating in Meaningful Use? to require that all Meaningful Use fields be completed in the patient profile.
  6. Click Save.
