Billing Claims Through Standard EDI

You can generate Standard EDI ANSI claim files that you download and then submit to any online clearinghouse you choose. (Eyefinity Practice Management does not upload the files for you; you must upload the files to your clearinghouse manually.)

To bill claims through Standard EDI:

  1. In Claims Management, click Billing Claims, and select EDI Transmission.
  2. From the Carrier drop-down list, select the insurance carrier(s) you want to bill.

All carriers are selected by default.

  3. Select a Provider, if necessary. All providers are selected by default.
  4. Select any additional filters, you want to use. To search for all claims for the carrier, leave these fields blank.
    • In the Service Date From and Service Date To text boxes, enter or select the date range.
    • From the Plan drop-down list, select the insurance plan(s) you want to include.
    • From the Office drop-down list, select the office(s) you want to include.
    • From the Patient State drop-down list, select the state(s) for the patients you want to include.
  5. Click Search.

All claims with the Ready to Bill status that meet your search criteria appear.

  6. Select the check box next to each claim you want to bill.

To select all claims on the current page of the grid, select the check box in the heading row.

  7. Click Create EDI File.

A message displays, asking if you want to change the claim status of each claim to Billed.

  8. If you want to change the claim status, click Yes, Change to Billed.

If you want to generate the EDI file without changing the claim status, click Cancel.

The EDI file is generated and a new window opens, showing the file name.

  9. Click the file name.

The system assigns each file a unique file name.

  10. In the file that opens, click File and select Save As... and save the file to the location on your computer where you want to store EDI files.

You can now go to the website for your clearinghouse and upload the file from your computer.
