System Requirements for Practice Management in Encompass
This page explains the system requirements for Encompass™. These requirements are routinely reviewed and updated.
The requirements outlined on this page represent the minimum hardware and system specifications required to effectively use Encompass. Failure to meet these requirements will noticeably degrade the performance of the software. This page includes the following topics:

Workstation Requirements
The requirements listed below represent the minimum specifications required by practice management in Encompass™.

When acquiring a new mobile device, you should always purchase the latest model to ensure the longest useful life.
Printing from an iPad requires an AirPrint-capable printer. Refer to Apple’s AirPrint Basics page for more information about AirPrint.
Internet Bandwidth Requirements
Business-grade Internet connectivity is required. The following table shows the minimum and recommended bandwidth speeds. For the best experience, meet or exceed the recommended bandwidth speed.

To verify your practice’s bandwidth, go to Speakeasy Speed Test and select the city closest to you. If your bandwidth does not meet the minimum requirements for your practice type, contact your Internet service provider.
Wireless Router Requirements
You will need a router to connect your iPad to the Internet wirelessly. Select a business-grade router and enable wireless security and encryption for HIPAA compliance. For the best experience, meet or exceed the optimum recommendation.

In addition, we recommend having a 4G LTE cellular hotspot available as a secondary Internet connection. While the cellular hotspot is useful in emergencies, you will notice dramatically slower performance, and it is not intended for daily use.
Document Printer Requirements
A business-grade PCL5e-compatible laser printer is required to print CMS 1500 forms.
