Creating Orders for In-Office Finishing (IOF)

When you add lenses to an eyeglass order, you can select to perform the lens finishing in your office.

What do you want to do?

  • Before you can begin creating eyeglass orders for in-office finishing, go to Eyeglass Lens Setup in Administration and make sure you have the IOF lab and the following IOF lens styles set up and activated:
    * Vsp Iof Asph Sv
    * Vsp Iof Sv
  • If the order is a non-VSP order, you must select Manual as the submission method and call the order in to the lab, unless you are ordering uncut lenses. Uncut lenses can be ordered electronically (be sure to select the Uncut check box when adding the lenses to the order).
  1. On the Choose Lenses page, select the Lens Type.
  2. Select the lens Material.
  3. Select the In Office check box next to Finishing.
  4. Select a Style.

    The styles are filtered to show only those available for in-office finishing.

  5. Record the rest of the lens information and click Add to Order.

    For VSP orders, the system automatically sets IOF Program as the lab. For Non-VSP orders, the system sets the lab to On Site.

  6. Add any extras, and then click Continue to Summary and proceed with the order.

    Automatic VSP benefit calculations are not currently supported for IOF lenses. When pricing these orders, calculations may return errors indicated with red exclamation points. Click Override in the VSP Calculation window, review all the line items, and enter the amounts manually.

This information applies only to practices that are enrolled in the KaleyedoscopeSM frame inventory management program and have the KaleyedoscopeSM integration enabled.

KaleyedoscopeSM is a frame inventory management program that is available to anyone with a Marchon® or Altair® account. The integration with Eyefinity Practice Management provides a single place to manage frame inventory, orders, and claims. When you have the Kaleyedoscope integration set up, the IOF information is sent to the vendor along with your frame order, to ensure proper routing of the frame. The vendor includes your patient order number with the frame when they send it to you.

  6. Add the frame and select Doctor Supplied as the Frame Source, even if you do not have the frame in your office. The vendor will send the frame to your practice to complete the patient's order.

  7. Add any extras, and then click Continue to Summary and proceed with the order.
