Voiding Orders

You can void orders that have a Lab On Hold or Ready status. When you void invoiced orders that the patient has paid or partially paid, you can refund the amount to the patient or issue a credit to apply to a new order. If the patient has not made any payments on the order, the void marks the order with Void status an does not change the patient's credit amount.

Voiding Paid or Partially Paid Orders

  1. On the left side of the Demographics screen, click Material Orders.

    The Material Orders screen opens.

  2. Click the Invoiced tab, if it is not already displayed.
  3. Locate the order you want to void in the Invoiced Orders list, and select Void from the Actions drop-down list.

    The Void Order window opens.

  4. Select the Void Reason.
  5. Select the Refund Method.
    • Select Credit to add the amount to the patient's credit total.
    • Select Refund and enter the amount(s) to refund to each payment type. Any remaining amount not allocated will be handled as a credit. The total of the amount(s) you enter is shown in the Refund Total field. This total must equal the Refund Amount.
      • Only providers and staff members with the Refund security option selected in Administration can process refunds. If you do not have access, a Temporary Override window displays, allowing another user with access to enter their username and password and give you temporary access.
  6. Click Void.

    The Return/Void receipt opens in a new window.

  7. Click Print to print the receipt.

    The order status changes to Void, the credit or refund is processed, and the void is added to the Transactions tab. For instructions on reprinting the Return/Void receipt, see Reprinting Transaction Reports.

Voiding Unpaid Orders

  1. On the left side of the Demographics screen, click Material Orders.

    The Material Orders screen opens.

  2. Click the Invoiced tab, if it is not already displayed.
  3. Locate the order you want to void in the Invoiced Orders list, and select Void from the Actions drop-down list.

    The Void Order window opens.

  4. Select the Void Reason.
  5. Click Void.

    The Return/Void receipt opens in a new window.

  6. Click Print to print the receipt.
