Setting Up the Zeiss VISULENS, VISUPLAN, & VISUREF Interfaces

  1. In the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

    The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.

  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the Zeiss manufacturer and one of the following devices:
    • VISULENS 500 (Lensmeter)
    • VISULENS 550 (Lensmeter)
    • VISUREF 100 (Auto Refractor Keratometer)
    • VISUREF 150 (Auto Refractor Keratometer)
    • VISUPLAN 500 (Tonometer)

    4. Device names flagged with an asterisk in the preceding list are not included in the Zeiss device list below. To add one of the unlisted interfaces to your system, select the model with the similar name from the device list (for example, tp add VISULENS 550, select VISULENS 500), and then enter the correct name in the Device Nickname field on the settings and option page.


  4. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  5. Enter a Device Nickname.

    A nickname is optional for all interfaces except the two in the first column of this table.

  6. Select a Serial Port connection or select Test File to use input from a file.
  7. If you use a Configure the serial port connection: *******************************
    1. Select the communication port number (COM Port).
    2. Select the data transfer rate (Baud Rate).The default is 19200.


  8. (VISUPLAN 500 only) Enter the ExamWRITER IOP Category where the data is saved. The default is Examination.
  9. Repeat steps 2–10 for each piece of Zeiss equipment you use.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.
