Setting Up the Reichert Interface

Before setting up the Reichert interface, note the following:

  • You must set up the interface from the computer connected to the Reichert equipment.
  • If you use the AT-555 Tonometer, make sure the device’s firmware is version 2.4 or later. For information on checking the firmware version, see the documentation that came with the device.
  • Make sure you have the proper serial cable for your equipment:

To set up the Reichert interface

  1. Do one of the following:
    • If you are not setting up the iPac interface, see the documentation that came with your device to set the RS-232 data bus parameters listed in the following table.
    • If you are setting up the iPac interface, go to step 3.

  4. IIn the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

    The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.

  5. Click Add.
  6. Select the Reichert manufacturer and a Reichert interface device:

    To enable ExamWRITER to send data in XML format to the Reichert SightChek forepart, select the following options in the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window:

    • Manufacturer: Reichert

    • Device: SightChek Input (Auto Phoropter)

    • Export Folder: The shared folder set up in the ReichertCapture software for the SightCheck forepart.

    Click Save, and then close the Equipment Interface Setup window.

  7. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  8. (Optional) Enter a Device Nickname.
  9. If you are setting up an AL-200, AT-555, or RK-600 device, do one of the following:

    To connect to the computer by a serial cable:

    1. Select the Use Serial Port option.

    2. From the Select COM Port drop-down list, select a port number.

    3. From the Select Baud Rate drop-down list, select the baud rate.

    To receive input from Reichert Capture:

    1. Select the Reichert Capture option.

    2. Click Browse, and select the drive and folder (Reichert Capture Folder) where the equipment data is temporarily stored.

      For all other Reichert devices except input autophoroptors, click Browse, and select the location of the exchange folder in which the temporary data file is saved.

      You must select an empty folder that is not used by any other application, including Reichert. If you select a folder that contains files, they will be deleted during the integration and data transfer process.

    3. In the File Prefix field, enter the beginning characters of the data file as shown in the following table.

  10. From the File Extension drop-down list, select one of the following:
    • For a UBM Image Review or PHP Image Review device, select .jpg.
    • For any other equipment interface except the Auto Phoroptor Input, select .xml.
    • For the Auto Phoroptor Input, do not enter an extension.
  11. Click Save.
  12. Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.
