Using the Humphrey Matrix Interface

This topic explains how to use the Humphrey Matrix interface for ExamWRITER.

If you use Humphrey Matrix 715 connected to the ExamWRITER computer with a serial cable:

  • Verify the following:

    • OM Matrix Gateway is installed and open on the computer on which you use ExamWRITER.

    • OM Matrix Gateway is connected to the Humphrey Matrix equipment.

  • If you use ExamWRITER 12 or earlier and do not have OM Matrix Gateway installed, see article 000021404 in the Eyefinity Support Community to download and install it.

  • If the OfficeMate logo appears in the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen, OM Matrix Gateway is open.

  • If you right-click the OfficeMate logo in the task bar, select Shutdown, and select Yes at the OM Matrix Gateway shutdown prompt, you must restart the computer and the Humphrey Matrix equipment so that communication errors do not occur.

  1. If you use an RS-232 cable or a null modem to connect to the computer that ExamWRITER is installed on, ensure that the Humphrey Matrix equipment is connected to the computer with a Humphrey Matrix Connectivity Cable.   2. Ensure that ExamWRITER is open.
  3. Create a blank exam, or open a saved exam for an existing patient.
  4. In the ExamWRITER chart window, click the Interfaces icon.
  5. Select Humphrey:Matrix Capture or Humphrey:Capture Matrix 800.

    The Humphrey Matrix Integration window opens.

  6. If you use Humphrey Matrix with an RS-232 cable or a null modem, follow these instructions. Otherwise, skip this step.
    1. In the Humphrey Matrix computer system’s Main Menu window, click Select Patient. The View Patients window opens.
    2. From the Source drop-down list, select OMLocal.
    3. Click Search.
    4. Select the patient whose exam is open in ExamWRITER.
  7. If you use Humphrey Matrix 800 with a mapped network drive, create the patient in the Humphrey Matrix computer system. Otherwise, skip this step.
  8. Perform the appropriate test on Humphrey Matrix. If you use Humphrey Matrix 800 with a mapped network drive, export the test results after completing the test. For help exporting the results, contact Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc.

    After the test is completed and the results are exported (if applicable), the Humphrey Matrix icon appears in the ExamWRITER chart window on the Images - Drawings tab under the Images, Drawings and Graphics category bar.
