Setting Up Equipment Interfaces
These instructions describe how to set up equipment with the Eyefinity Equipment Interface in general. For instructions on setting up a specific piece of equipment, refer to the other topics.
ExamWRITER Users: The setup process for the Eyefinity Equipment Interface was greatly improved and simplified in ExamWRITER version 14. Eyefinity recommends that you upgrade to the latest version of ExamWRITER so that you can more easily set up your equipment interfaces and use any new equipment interfaces that have been relased since this version and will be released in future versions.
This topic tells you how:

If you are using ExamWRITER version 12 and you installed the new Eyefinity Equipment Interface (Installing the Equipment Interface), follow the instructions for setting up, adding, editing, and removing equipment interfaces in version 14 and above.
- On the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.
The Equipment Interfaces - Setup window opens.
- Select the Debugging Mode/Write to File check box only if you are troubleshooting the equipment interface.
- Select the check box next to the equipment interface that you are setting up.
Many imaging equipment interfaces have a capture and review component. Select the check boxes for both the capture and the review components to set up both.
The settings and options for the selected equipment appear.
- Record the settings. For instructions on setting up a specific piece of equipment, refer to the other topics.
- Repeat steps 3–4 for each piece of equipment attached to this computer.
- Deselect check boxes to disable unnecessary equipment interfaces.
- Click Save.
- Click Exit.
- Close and reopen ExamWRITER to activate your changes.

If you are in Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) mode, each user must set up equipment interfaces. Settings are not shared between users.
- On the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.
The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.
- If you have not yet configured a shared practice data folder, click OK when the Configure Settings window opens; otherwise, click Settings.
- Click Browse and select a Shared Practice Data folder that is accessible by all workstations. This folder will store the data files for multiple equipment integrations. The default shared folder for equipment connected with a serial cable is C:\EHR_EI.
- Select the Debugging mode/Write to file check box only if you are troubleshooting the equipment interface.
- Click Save.

If you are in Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) mode, each user must add equipment interfaces. Settings are not shared between users.
- On the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.
The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.
- Click Add.
- Select a Manufacturer and Device.
- Click Add.
The settings and options for the selected equipment appear.
- Record the settings. For instructions on setting up a specific piece of equipment, refer to the other topics.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 2–6 for each piece of equipment attached to this computer.
Many imaging equipment interfaces have a capture and review component; be sure to set up both components.
- Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.

If you are in Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) mode, each user must edit equipment interfaces. Settings are not shared between users.
- On the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.
The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.
- Select an existing equipment interface.
- Click Edit.
The settings and options for the selected equipment appear.
- Edit the appropriate settings. For instructions on setting up a specific piece of equipment, refer to the other topics.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 2–5 for each piece of equipment attached to this computer.
- Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.

If you are in Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) mode, each user must remove equipment interfaces. Settings are not shared between users.
- On the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.
The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.
- Select an existing equipment interface.
- Click Remove.
- Click Yes to remove the device.
- Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.
