Setting Up Sales Tax Codes

  1. From the OfficeMate Administration main window, click Setup, and select Sales Tax Codes.

    The Tax Code window opens.

  2. Select a state from the State drop-down menu.
  3. Type the state sales tax percentages for the various product types in the State Tax column.
  4. Place your cursor in the County Code drop-down menu and press F12.

    The State-County-Local Maintenance window opens.

  5. Type the state’s counties in the County column and click Save.
  6. Select a county from the County Code drop-down menu.
  7. Type the county sales tax percentages for the various product types in the County Tax column.
  8. Place your cursor in the Local Code drop-down menu and press F12.

    The State-County-Local Maintenance window opens.

  9. Type the state’s counties in the Local column and click Save.
  10. Select a local area from the Local Code drop-down menu.
  11. Type the local sales tax percentages for the various product types in the Local Tax column.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Select other states, counties, and local areas and record tax amounts using the instructions above.
  14. Click Exit to close the Tax Codes window.
