Using the Contact Lens Loader

The Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer enables you to perform the following tasks:

  • Update your OfficeMate soft and rigid gas-permeable contact lens databases

  • Identify the contact lenses that you prescribe

  • Enter prices for the contact lenses

By selecting only lenses that you prescribe and entering pricing information, you can save countless hours of entering data into your OfficeMate database.

  • You can update contact lens prices later in OfficeMate, but it is a manual process.
  • We recommend using the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer before upgrading Eyefinity EHR. The Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer helps sync your local OfficeMate contact lens database with the Eyefinity EHR database in the cloud. This ensures contact lens orders sent from Eyefinity EHR to OfficeMate are priced correctly. If you cannot run the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer until after you upgrade Eyefinity EHR, that’s okay; however, some of your contact lenses in OfficeMate may not match your contact lenses in Eyefinity EHR until you run the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer.
  • The Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer imports all ranges associated with the contact lenses that you select. Importing the large quantity of ranges and contact lenses may slow down product searches. Refine your search criteria in OfficeMate to speed up product searches.

You can load the latest contact lenses directly from OfficeMate Administration only once a month. To load additional contact lenses after loading contact lenses in the current month, follow the instructions in this knowledge base article.
  1. In the OfficeMate Administration main window, click Tasks and select Contact Lens Product Loader.

    A message stating whether a new version of the catalog is available appears.

  2. Click Yes to open the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer.

  3. Click Continue.

  4. Expand the manufacturer name to display the available brands.

  5. Select check boxes only for the brands that you prescribe.


    If brands are already selected, they have been priced and imported into OfficeMate.

  6. Enter the Cost and Fee of the contact lenses.

    • If the contact lenses that you are importing are already priced in OfficeMate, the prices appear in this utility. You can modify the prices.

    • If you do not price a lens, the price defaults to $0.

  7. Click Continue.

  8. (Optional) Click Print to print your contact lens selections and prices.

  9. Review your contact lens selections and pricing, and then click Import to save these products to your OfficeMate database.

  10. Wait while the contact lenses are loaded into OfficeMate.

  11. When the utility finishes importing the contact lenses, click OK to close the utility.


    Although RGP lenses are loaded into OfficeMate, they cannot be priced or activated/inactivated from this utility. They must be maintained from OfficeMate Administration.

  12. To import additional contact lenses in the current month after closing the utility, follow the instructions in this knowledge base article to download the latest Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer and then load additional contact lenses into OfficeMate. You can load the latest contact lenses directly from OfficeMate Administration only once a month.

Q: What will happen to the contact lenses that I manually added to OfficeMate when I run the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer?

A: If the contact lenses that you manually added to OfficeMate match contact lenses with updates in the catalog and you choose to update those lenses, they are updated when you run the Importer.

 

Q: Do I need to inactivate contact lenses in OfficeMate prior to running the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer?

A: No. The only time that you may need to inactivate contact lenses in OfficeMate before running the Importer is when the lenses in OfficeMate are different in some way (for example, in the spelling or capitalization of the name) from the lenses that you are importing. If this is the case, inactivate the lenses in OfficeMate and import the contact lenses using the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer.

 

Q: Will the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer update every Rx for the contact lenses that I have selected?

A: Yes.

 

Q: Will the pricing for the contact lenses be similar to what it was during the fitness check?

A: Yes.

 

Q: If I do not select brands for the contact lenses while running the Eyefinity ABB Catalog Importer, can I select brands later in OfficeMate to keep the OfficeMate and Eyefinity EHR contact lens databases in sync?

A: Yes.
