Released: July 7, 2020

ExamWRITER Features

General

  • Improved the performance and aesthetics of measurement/prescription sliders.

ICD-10

  • Starting April 1, 2020, you can document complications due to confirmed COVID-19 cases using the following ICD-10 code.

    U07.1: 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease

History of Present Illness

  • You can now document a patient’s consent to receive telehealth services in triage situations. To document patient consent, click the History of Present Illness (HPI) bar, select Triage, and select Patient Verbally Consents or Patient Consents in Writing.

CMS 1500

  • You are now able to successfully update quantities on fee slips. This fix ensures that boxes 24F and 28 on CMS 1500 forms are correct and payments received from insurance carriers are correct.
  • Fixed an issue that caused inactive providers to display in Box 17.

MIPS

  • When you select the Specialist Report Received check box on the Patient Referral window, LOINC code 11488-4 for EHR quality reporting is recorded.

Special Testing

  • You can now document tear osmolarity and autocode CPT 83861. To document tear osmolarity, click the Special Testing bar, select Tear Osmolarity and click Process, select LT, RT, or BL and select Tear Osmolarity, enter the results (mOsmL) for each eye, click OK, and click Process.

While the 83861 CPT autocodes, the QW modifier does not. If your insurance carrier requires the QW modifier, you’ll need to add it manually in the Coding window.

Coding

  • VSP EHM (Eye Health Management) has been relabeled to VSP PCR (Patient Condition Reporting). This change also applies to the Exam Finalization Window for VSP exams.

ExamWRITER Fixes

  • Fixed an error that caused certain exams to lock and ExamWRITER to freeze when opening them.
  • Resolved an error that occurred when modifying text in the Menu Editor.

OfficeMate Features

Statements

  • Level II CPT (PQRS) codes no longer appear on statements to mitigate patient questions about these line items.

Order Windows

  • The title bars on the Eyewear Order, Soft Lens Order, and Hard Lens Order windows now display the patient’s balance.
  • Improved the performance and aesthetics of prescription sliders.

VSP Interface

  • Added Rimless Drill Mount Charge as a lens treatment product. The product is associated with code V2799 and is mapped to the SW enhancement code. This lens treatment will be added automatically to VSP orders that include a frame with a rimless, drilled rimless, grooved rimless, or three-piece mount. You may manually remove this treatment from VSP orders if needed. You may add this lens treatment manually to non-VSP orders, if needed, when the patient selects a frame that requires a rimless drill mount.

OfficeMate Fixes

General

  • Resolved a situation where it appeared the wrong patient’s information displayed when right clicking the Demographic, Receipts, Orders, and other window title bars. Now, if no patient data is loaded in the window, right clicking the title bar has no effect.

Patient Center

  • Fixed an issue that prevented a patient’s demographics from opening after searching for and selecting the patient. The situation occurred when other windows (e.g., Fee Slips, Receipts, Orders) were opened from the Patient Center for one patient and then the user clicked F2 Find to search for and open the demographics of the next patient.

Demographics

  • Resolved an issue that caused patient notes to disappear. Notes History now displays historical notes and timestamps.
  • Insurance carriers and plans with expiration dates entered in Insurance Setup no longer automatically deactivate in Demographics.

Appointment Scheduler

  • Resolved an issue that caused unavailable appointment blocks to appear in 4PatientCare appointment searches.

Receipts

  • Resolved an issue that caused the insurance balance in the Receipts window to display a different amount than displayed in the Ledger. Also fixed a related issue that caused insurance balances that were adjusted—but not billed—not to display in the Receipts window.

Ledger

  • Ledger transactions now display in the order in which they were entered. Previously, transactions displayed in order of service date, which made it difficult to follow the history of charges, adjustments, and payments.
  • Removed an interface element that falsely made the posting date appear editable.
  • Resolved Error -2146232028 when opening a patient’s ledger for the first time after upgrading to OfficeMate 15.

Electronic Remittance Advice

  • Deductible amounts reported in ERA files are assigned to the patient. Right-click the To Pat. Amount to send the deductible balance to a secondary insurance.
  • You can now load EyeMed ERA files into OfficeMate for claims that were entered into the EyeMed website.

Inventory

  • Corrected an error that caused purchase order items to increment inventory counts even after the order was dispensed to the patient.
  • Resolved an issue in which On-hand and Qty In-Transit quantities were not updated correctly when the Get Transfer function was used in OfficeMate Administration. This situation occurred only when entering the Transfer No. manually rather than searching for it.

VSP Interface

  • Resolved an issue that resulted in the VSP Estimator returning a “Lens attributes incorrectly mapped” error when certain polycarbonate lenses were included in the order.
  • Updated links to help content in VSP Estimator error messages.

Product Setup

  • The Use Half Fee on Single Lens Transaction check box is no longer grayed out for Ophthalmic Lens and Lens Treatment products. This restores your ability to select or deselect this preference.
