Accessing Restricted Charts
When you attempt to access the chart of a high-profile (VIP) patient, you may be presented with the Restricted Patient Chart page. This page notifies you that you're about to access a restricted chart, notifies you that the sections of the chart you view and edit will be tracked in a special audit log, and prompts you to enter a reason for accessing the chart.
You are not prevented from accessing restricted charts for patient safety reasons, but your activity within the chart will be logged.
- To access the chart, enter a Reason for Accessing the Chart and click Proceed.
- To return to the Home page without accessing the chart, click Cancel.
You are prompted to enter a reason for accessing the patient's chart once per session. You can close the chart, open another patient's chart, and later return to the restricted chart without being prompted again. Your activity within the restricted chart will be logged whether you are prompted to document a reason or not.
