Exporting Patient Visit Notes as PDFs
You can export preliminary and finalized visit notes as PDFs. This page describes the various ways you can export visit notes as PDFs.
Visit note PDFs contain HIPAA-covered PII. Save PDFs only to password-protected, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant storage. Do not transmit visit note PDFs through unencrypted email.
Patients have access to their finalized visits through the patient portal.
- Log into the iPad app and open the Patient Clipboard.
- Tap the visit to open the note.
- Tap Documents.
- Tap Print.
- Tap the Share icon and save the PDF to a secure location.
- Share the PDF with the requester using a secure, HIPAA-compliant method.
- Delete the PDF file and empty the trash.
- Log into the web application and open the Patient Clipboard.
- Click the Date to open the visit note.
- Click the View Visit Note action bar button.
- Click the Save icon in your browser's PDF viewer and save the PDF to a secure location.
- Share the PDF with the requester using a secure, HIPAA-compliant method.
- Delete the PDF file and empty the trash.
- Log into the iPad app and open the Patient Clipboard.
- Tap the finalized visit to open the note.
- Tap Print.
- Tap the Share icon and save the PDF to a secure location.

- Log into the web application and open the Patient Clipboard.
- Click the Date to open the finalized visit note.
- Click the Save icon in your browser's PDF viewer and save the PDF to a secure location.

You can compile the patient's data into a single PDF and share the PDF with the requester through a mutually agreeable method:
- Log into the web application and open the Patient Clipboard.
- Click the Print Attachments action bar button.
If you don't see the Print Attachments action bar button, ask your practice administrator to enable the Enable Print Patient's Charts setting for you.
If you can't get access to the Print Attachments function, you will need to download each finalized visit PDF individually and skip to step 7.
The Print Patient Attachments window opens.
- Select the Visit Notes, Chart Notes, and Attachments that you need to include in the PDF.
- Select the Include Face Sheet check box to include a cover page.
- Click Generate Printable PDF.
The Print Queue tab opens. The PDF may take several minutes to complete.
- Click Download and save the PDF to a secure location.
- Share the PDF with the requester using a secure, HIPAA-compliant method.
- Delete the PDF file and empty the trash.
You can save multiple patients' finalized visit notes as PDFs. This may be a viable option if your state requires that your practice provide a doctor with a copy of their exams when they leave your practice. The home page displays a maximum of 100 visits, so you may need to repeat this procedure to export all of the desired visits.
- Log in to the Eyefinity EHR web application.
- On the home page, locate the Note History section, and click Show Filters if they're hidden.
- Click the Note Status drop-down and select Finalized.
- Apply other filters as needed to isolate the exams you want to save.
- Optionally, click the View Records By drop-down at the bottom of the list and select 100 to display the most visits possible.
- Select the check boxes for the exams you want to save, or select the check box in the column header to select all the exams.
- Click the Download Notes action bar icon.
Eyefinity EHR generates a ZIP file, and your browser automatically downloads it. Only the visits selected on the current page are included in the ZIP file.
- Click the at the bottom of the list of visits to advance to the next page and repeat steps 6–7 until you have exported all the visits you need.
- Share the ZIP file(s) with the requester using a secure, HIPAA-compliant method.
- Delete the ZIP file(s) and empty the trash.
