Setting up Contact Lens Trials in the Visit Overview (Web)

1. Open a patient visit. To learn how, go to Creating or Opening a Visit (Web).
2. Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Contact Lenses.
3. In the Status drop-down menu, select one of the Order Trial options.

4. Continue documenting the trial soft lens prescription.

1. Add a contact lens trial prescription. To learn how, go to Add a soft contact lens trial.
2. Document the Contacts Usage and Status as needed.
3. Import a previous refraction. To learn how, go to Viewing Refraction History and Importing Refractions in the Visit Overview (Web).

   OR

   Enter the details for the patient’s contact lenses:

   1. Select the values for the Contacts Prescription from the drop-down menus.
   2. To copy the prescription for the right eye to the left eye, click Copy OD to OS.
4. Document the patient’s Distance Vision and Near Vision from the drop-down menus.

   Click the Set to 20/20 OU and Set to J1+OU links to populate the Visual Acuities fields with those values.

5. Document the over refraction information entering the Sphere, Cylinder, Axis, Distance Visual Acuity, and Near Visual Acuity if applicable:
6. Document the contact lens assessment and regimen information as needed:
   1. Click the Assessment & CL Regimen tab.
   2. Click Mark as Normal to mark the assessment fields as good or comfortable.

      OR

      Enter the Movement, Centration, Vision, and Comfort manually.

   3. If the contact lenses correct for astigmatism, select the Torics Rotated and enter the Degrees.
   4. Enter the Wearing Schedule, Replenishment, and Disinfecting regimen.
7. Click Save.

2. Locate the Vision Summary section, click Add Tests, and select Specialty Contact Lenses.
3. In the Status drop-down menu, select one of the Order Trial options.

   The Specialty Lens screen opens. Continue documenting the trial specialty lens prescription.

1. Select an Underlying Condition only if you are not prescribing a lens for the selected eye.
2. Select a Product.

   The Manufacturer and Lens Type automatically populate based on the Product.

   In rare instances where more than one manufacturer produces the same lens product, you'll need to select a Manufacturer.

   Select Manual to type the Product, Manufacturer, and Lens Type manually.

3. Enter the Base Curve, Diameter, and Sphere.
4. Enter the remaining values as needed.

   If you need to record a value for a field that isn't available, select Additional Fields

5. Repeat these steps for the other eye.

   Select Copy OD to OS to copy the values from the right eye to the left. You can edit any values that are different

1. Open the Specialty Contact Lens screen. To learn how, go to Setting up Contact Lens Trials in the Visit Overview (Web).
2. Click the Additional Fields button.

   The Additional Fields window opens.

3. Depending on your needs, take the following actions:
   • Click the  (plus) to make a field visible.
   • Click the  (minus) to hide a field.
   • Click and drag the  (bars) to change the order.
4. Click Save.

The Specialty Lens Prescription screen updates to reflect the changes you made.

The Specialty Lens feature in Encompass give you the flexibility to add or remove fields according to your prescribing preferences. Tap the Additional Fields button to customize which fields you see. The following table describes the fields that can be shown or hidden.
