Creating Visit Note Categories

You can create visit note categories that allow your clinical staff to filter a patient's visit notes by type. For example, if you want to see only follow-up visits, categories can help you can do that. Filters are created at the practice level and are available to all clinical staff.

  1. Log in to the Eyefinity EHR web application as an administrator.
  2. Locate and expand the Categories and Tags section and click the Manage Visit Categories button.
  3. Click New Category.
  4. Type a Category name.

    The Category should be as short as possible to convey the meaning of the category. For example, "Glaucoma," "IOL Implant," or "Emergency."

  5. Type a Description as needed to clarify the category's use.
  6. When you're finished, click Save.

    The visit category is now available to be applied to exams and available to filter lists of exams.

  1. Log in to the Eyefinity EHR web application as an administrator.
  2. Locate and expand the Categories and Tags section and click the Manage Visit Categories button.
  3. Locate the category you want to edit and click Modify.
  4. Edit the Category name and Description as needed.

    Be careful when editing the category name. Any exams that have been tagged with the category will adopt the new name. You should limit your edits to correcting typos. Dramatically changing a category name (e.g., from "glaucoma" to "cataract") would lead to confusing filters.

  5. When you're finished, click Save.
