Designating a No-charge Visit on the iPad
When you have a visit you don't want to bill the patient for, there are three different ways you can prevent exam charges from transmitting to the practice management side of the platform.
The nonvisit order is best for such follow-up encounters as a patient returning after a contact lens fitting, where CC/HPI information does not need to be documented.
- Open the patient's chart.
- In the iPad app, tap the drop-down arrow on the New Visit button and select New Order.
If you need to record CC/HPI as part of the visit, choose one the other options on this page.
- Open the Ocular Exam Room.
- Click a diagnosis to document it for the patient.
- Click the No Charge Visit plan.
- Click Done.
-
Click Save Visit Note.
Eyefinity EHR sends a 11111 CPT code to the practice management system. The 11111 CPT code will register as a no charge visit to your front office staff on the practice management side.
- Open the Visit Note Overview.
- Click Override Suggested Billing Code in the Billing section.
- Select No E/M Visit from the drop-down list.
-
Click Override Code.
The main visit CPT code will no longer transmit to the practice management side. To reset this change, click Override Suggested Billing Code again and then click Clear Override.
Be aware that even though both the No Charge Visit Plan and No E/M Visit options are used to document a no-charge visit, CPT codes generated for various procedures such as external photos or OCT will still transmit unless removed manually. If you want to keep these additional codes from transmitting, you'll need to override the bill. For more information, see Overriding Billing.
