Checking Patients In and Out Using Book View

This topic explains how to record that a patient has checked in and checked out for their appointment in the Appointment Calendar's Book View.

To check a patient in:

  1. On the top menu bar in Encompass, click Appointments and select Appointment Calendar.

  2. If Book View is not displayed, select it from the drop-down list next to the date in the Appointment Calendar toolbar.
  3. Locate the appointment.
  4. Click the Action drop-down list and select Check in Patient.

    The appointment status changes to Checked In. A red $ icon displays to the left of the appointment, indicating that an invoice has not yet been generated for the exam. Once you generate the invoice, the icon will disappear.

To check a patient out:

  1. On the top menu bar in Encompass, click Appointments and select Appointment Calendar.

  2. If Book View is not displayed, select it from the drop-down list next to the date in the Appointment Calendar toolbar.
  3. Locate the appointment.
  4. Click the Action drop-down list and select Check out Patient.

    The appointment status is changed to Checked Out. If you did not generate an invoice for the exam, the red $ icon remains next to the appointment until you do so.
