Capturing OCULUS Data
- Ensure that ExamWRITER is open.
- Create a blank exam, or open a saved exam for an existing patient.
- In the ExamWRITER chart window, click the Interfaces icon.
-
Select the OCULUS capture option that corresponds to your OCULUS equipment. If you gave the equipment a nickname in the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window, that name appears in this list.
The OCULUS application opens with the patient’s name and date of birth preloaded from ExamWRITER.
- If you use the Binoptometer 4P, follow these instructions to set up the equipment. You must set up the equipment only once on each computer from which you capture data.
Select a patient.
Click Binoptometer 4P.
Click Settings.
Click System.
Ensure that the GDT Export check box is selected.
Click the ellipsis (...), and browse to and select the location of the OCULUS GDT export folder (for example, C:\GDT_OUT) that you set up for the interface. Select the same drive and folder that you set up in Setting Up the OCULUS Interface.
Click Back.
Close the OCULUS - Binoptometer 4P window.
- Follow the OCULUS instructions to capture the patient’s visual fields or topography data.
-
Close the OCULUS application to return to ExamWRITER.
In the patient exam, the OCULUS icon appears on the Images - Drawings tab under the Images, Drawings and Graphics category bar.
If you use the Binoptometer 4P, the ExamWRITER exam chart is refreshed, and all data received from the equipment is displayed on the Vision/Rx > Spectacle and Binocular tabs.
- To review the patient’s captured visual fields or topography data, see Reviewing OCULUS Data.
