Setting Up the Heidelberg Interface

You must set up the Heidelberg interface from the computer connected to the Heidelberg equipment.

  1. In the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

    The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.

  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the Heidelberg manufacturer and the Capture HRT (Retinal Imaging System) device.
  4. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  5. (Optional) Enter a Device Nickname.
  6. Click Browse, and select the full folder path to the Heidelberg heyexrc.exe application.

    If the heyexrc.exe application is not installed, download it at https://s3.amazonaws.com/examwriter/dwnld/heyexrc.exe. After downloading the file, copy it to the Heyex folder on your hard drive.

  7. Click Browse, and select the Heidelberg database file name (for example, hr.mdb).
  8. Click Save.

  9. Click Add.

  10. Select the Heidelberg manufacturer and the Review HRT (Image Manager) device.
  11. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  12. (Optional) Enter a Device Nickname.
  13. Click Browse, and select the full folder path to the Heidelberg heyexrc.exe application.

    If the heyexrc.exe application is not installed, download it at https://s3.amazonaws.com/examwriter/dwnld/heyexrc.exe. After downloading the file, copy it to the Heyex folder on your hard drive.

  14. Click Browse, and select the Heidelberg database file name (for example, hr.mdb).
  15. Click Save.
  16. Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.

If you use ExamWRITER 12 and you installed the new Eyefinity Equipment Interface (see Installing the Equipment Interface), do not follow this procedure. Instead, see To set up the Heidelberg interface for ExamWRITER 14 or later.

  1. Open the Heyex folder on your hard drive (for example, C:\Heyex).
  2. Ensure that the heyexrc.exe file is in the folder.

    If the heyexrc.exe file is not in the Heyex folder, download the file at https://s3.amazonaws.com/examwriter/dwnld/heyexrc.exe. After downloading the file, copy it to the Heyex folder.

  3. On each of the computers on which you plan to review Heidelberg images, copy the heyexrc.exe file to the Heyex folder.
  4. In the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

  5. Select the Debugging mode/Write to file checkbox if you want ExamWRITER to record data received from Heidelberg in a file for debugging purposes.
  6. Select the checkboxes next to Heidelberg Capture HRT and Heidelberg Review HRT.
  7. Select the drive and shared folder where the Heidelberg data is written.

    Typically, the shared folder where the Heidelberg HRT2/HRT3 data is written is HRT\heyex\Data\data on the computer acting as the Heidelberg server. For more information on obtaining this path, see the Heidelberg setup documentation.

  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Exit.
  10. Close and reopen ExamWRITER to activate your changes.
