Setting Up the Humphrey HFA II-i Interface

  1. In the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

    The Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window opens.

  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the Humphrey manufacturer and the Capture HFAIIi (Visual Field Analyser) device.
  4. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  5. (Optional) Enter a Device Nickname.
  6. Click Browse, and select the drive and shared folder (EMR or EMR Export) where the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment data is written.

    Do not select the OfficeMate\DATA\HFAIIi_Reports folder or any other folder in which other data is stored. If you select a folder that contains files, they are deleted during the integration and data transfer process.

  7. Record the Serial Number of the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment.
    • The serial number of the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment is listed in the OA Web License and on a sticker on the equipment.
    • Omit the “I” in the serial number. For example, if your serial number is 123I-34432, enter 123-34432 in the Serial Number field.
  8. Click Save.

  9. Click Add.

  10. Select the Humphrey manufacturer and the Review HFA (Software Tool) device.
  11. Click Add.

    The settings and options appear.

  12. (Optional) Enter a Device Nickname.
  13. Click Save.
  14. Close the Eyefinity Equipment Interface Setup window.

If you use ExamWRITER 12 and you installed the new Eyefinity Equipment Interface (see Installing the Equipment Interface), do not follow this procedure. Instead, see To set up the Humphrey HFA II-i interface for ExamWRITER 14 or later.

  1. In the ExamWRITER main window, click Tools, select Equipment Integration Setup, and select Equipment Interface Setup.

    The Equipment Interfaces - Setup window opens.

  2. To record data received from the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment in a file for debugging purposes, select the Debugging mode/Write to file checkbox.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the equipment interfaces that you are setting up.
  4. Highlight the Humphrey Capture HFAIIi device.
  5. In the Data File Start Chars field, enter the serial number of the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment.
    • The serial number of your Humphrey HFA II-i equipment is listed in the OA Web License and on a sticker on the equipment.
    • Omit the “I” in the serial number. For example, if your serial number is 123I-34432, enter 123-34432 in the Data File Start Chars field.
  6. Create a shared folder where the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment data is written. This folder is used only for communication purposes between the equipment and ExamWRITER, and should always remain empty and not contain any stored files.
  7. Select the drive and shared folder (EMR or EMR Export) created in step 6 where the Humphrey HFA II-i equipment data is written.

    Do not select the OfficeMate/DATA/HFAIIi_Reports folder on the server or any other folder except the one created in step 6. If you select the HFAIIi_Reports folder, all your Humphrey analysis reports aredeleted. If you select any other folder except the one created in step 6, all the files in that folder aredeleted.

  8. Click Save.
  9. Highlight the Humphrey TestConnection device, and repeat steps 5–7.
  10. Click Exit.
  11. Close and reopen ExamWRITER to activate your changes.
