Viewing Medication History

This topic explains how to view a patient’s medication history. Medication history of up to one year is displayed for all patients whose insurance companies and pharmacies provide this information to Surescripts.

  1. Open the ExamWRITER ePrescribing interface.

See Opening the ExamWRITER ePrescribing Interface.

  2. Next to Patient Consent, select the Yes option.

Patients must give consent before a provider views their medication history. To view patient consent activity, click View Patient Consent History ().

  3. To view the patient’s current medications, perform one of the following tasks:

    • View the Medications section under the Patient section.

    • From the menu in the upper-left corner of the ePrescribing interface, select Medications.

The patient’s current (active) medications are listed.

To add medications to the Active Medication list, see Managing Medications.

  4. To view the patient’s medication history, click Show Medication History.
  5. In the Medication History from Other Sources section, select a time period for which to show the other-sources medication from the drop-down list.

Based on your Active Medications list, information from insurance companies and pharmacies about external medication interactions is displayed.
