014. Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): Dilated Macular Examination

Document the dilated macular examination:

1. Open the Ocular Exam.
2. Select a dilated exam.
3. Select the appropriate findings on the Discs and Fundus tabs.
4. Select an AMD diagnosis from Impressions.
5. Tap Morphologies, select observations from the AMD Severity Scale, Retinal Thickening, and Hemorrhage drop-downs.
6. Document the rest of the exam and Finalize.

Alternatively, code quality with a special plan:

1. Open the Ocular Exam.
2. Select a Diagnosis and Plan.
3. Tap Special Plans and select MIPS.
4. From Popular Plans, select MIPS Quality.
5. Tap the AMD tab.
6. Select the appropriate outcome from the Quality 14 drop-down.
7. Tap Done.
8. Document the rest of the exam and Finalize.

Document the dilated macular examination:

1. In a patient’s exam record in ExamWRITER, record the office visit.
2. Click the Exam - Special Tests tab.
3. Click Dilation.

   

4. In the Dilation Orders window, select the check box for the appropriate medication, type any necessary text in the Custom Text field, and click Save/Exit.

   

5. With the Exam - Special Tests tab open, click Auto to document the Dilated Fundus Exam (DFE).

   

6. Click the Examination category bar.
7. Select the Macula check box and click Process.

   

8. In the Macula window, document the presence or absence of macular thickening and click Process.

   

9. In the Impressions/Macula window, document the age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and click Process.

   

   The Diagnosis Needs Refinement window opens.

10. Select the appreciate specificity for the H35 code.

    

11. Click Process.
12. Document the treatment and click Process.
