191. Cataracts: 20/40 or Better Visual Acuity within 90 Days Following Cataract Surgery
This measure is available to Eyefinity EHR users only. You will not be able to complete this measure in ExamWRITER.
Percentage of patients aged 18 years and older with a diagnosis of uncomplicated cataract who had cataract surgery and no significant ocular conditions impacting the visual outcome of surgery and had best-corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better (distance or near) achieved within 90 days following the cataract surgery.
The listed denominator criteria is used to identify the intended patient population. The numerator options included in this specification are used to submit the quality actions allowed by the measure. The quality-data codes listed do not need to be submitted for registry-based submissions; however, these codes may be submitted for those registries that utilize claims data.
Achieving this Measure in Eyefinity EHR
During the initial visit, perform the following steps:
- Open the Vision exam and document the Visual Acuity and IOP.
- Open the Ocular Exam.
- Select a cataract-related diagnosis (e.g., Nuclear Cataract) from Impressions.
- Select the Optical Biometry or A-Scan with IOL Calculation Plan.
- In the Details window, select a Targeted Refraction.
- Tap Done.
- Complete and finalize the visit.
When the patient returns for the postop visit, perform the following steps:
- Document the postop chief complaint.
- Open the Vision exam and document the Manifest Refraction and Visual Acuities.
- Open the Ocular Exam.
- Select Postop Cataract from Impressions.
- Select the Findings.
- Select the Postop Evaluation Cataract Plan.
- On the Postop Cataract window, select the Postop Day.
- Tap Done.
