Complying with the Eyeglass and Contact Lens Rule Using AcuityLogic

To comply with the Eyeglass and Contact Lens Rules, print the patient's prescription prior to offering to sell the patient any products. Print two copies of the prescription and ask the patient to sign one, acknowledging receipt of the prescription. Here's how to print the contact lens prescription:

  1. Open the patient profile.
  2. Click the Rx tab.
  3. Locate the prescription you want to print and click the Print icon.

    The prescription opens in a new window.

    If the prescription does not open, ensure your browser settings allow pop-up windows.

  4. Print two copies.
  5. AcuityLogic prints an acknowledgment statement and signature line at the bottom of the prescription.
  6. Ask the patient to sign one and retain that copy. Give the patient the second copy.

Alternatively, you can create your own acknowledgment form. We recommend adopting the acknowledgment form included in the AOA Eyeglass Rule Toolkit or AOA Contact Lens Rule Toolkit , or you can create an electronic consent form in Eyefinity EHR.
