Creating a Contact Lens

After you know that you have the necessary attributes in the database, you can create a contact lens for the catalog in AcuityLogic POS.

For multitenant environments, the following setup can be performed only by administrators of the parent company. Setup and updates for individual companies can be performed after the initial setup is completed. See Setting Up Contact Lenses for Individual Companies.

To create a contact lens

  1. In AcuityLogic Admin, click Product, select Contact Lens, and then select Contact Lens.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Complete the following fields:

    Manufacturer

    Manufacturer for the contact lens.

    The drop-down list is linked from Product > Contact Lens > Manufacturer.

    Style

    Style for the contact lens.

    The drop-down list is linked from Product > Contact Lens > Style.

    Color

    Color for the contact lens.

    If the lens has more than one color, you must create multiple lenses for each option.

    The drop-down list is linked from Product > Contact Lens > Color.

    Year Supply

    The number of boxes per eye for one year.

    X

    Lead Time

    This field is not used, but because it is required, type 1.

    Item Fields

     

     

    Item Name

    The name of the contact lens. Include the manufacturer and style name.

    Item Number

    The item number.

    You might want to create item numbers in numerical order. For example, if the last contact lens in the list is 300, you would type 301.

    Item Type

    The type of item. Contact Lens automatically appears.

     

    UPC code

    The UPC code for the contact lens. This field is not required because the lens is not specific to one catalog item.

     

    Item Status

    The status of the attribute.

    In AcuityLogic POS (for one office) and AcuityLogic BackOffice (for all offices), you can run reports on the contact lens based on the assigned status.

     

    Financial Group

    The financial group assigned to the item. See Maintaining Financial Groups.

    Assigning a financial group to a contact lens at the item level assigns the financial group to all contact lens stock items under the contact lens item. For exceptions, update the financial group assigned to the individual contact lens stock items.

     

    Default Cost

    The cost of the style attribute (although the cost is typically assigned to the complete lens).

     

    Active

    If selected, the contact lens is an available option when a AcuityLogic POS user creates a contact lens order.

     

    Item Group

    The item group to which the contact lens should belong.

     

    Section Number

    This field has no functionality for contact lenses.

     

  4. To map the item to all your companies automatically, select the Auto Map to all Companies check box.
    This option is available only when you create items. If you do not select the option when you create an item or if you must update an item, map the item to individual companies from the product mapping window. See Setting Up Contact Lenses for Individual Companies.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Use the Map Partners link to add partner codes if necessary.

  7. Use the Show Items link to edit the contact lens stock if necessary.

    The list shows you the complete catalog by base curve, diameter, and sphere power availability.

  8. Use the Pricing link to add pricing if necessary.

    See Adding and Changing Pricing for Contact Lenses.
