Creating an Eyeglass Lens Edging

Optionally, you can assign an edging to lenses in the catalog.

For multitenant environments, the following setup can be performed only by administrators of the parent company. Setup and updates for individual companies can be performed after the initial setup is completed. See Setting Up Eyeglass Lenses for Individual Companies.

To create an eyeglass lens edging

  1. In AcuityLogic Admin, click Product, select Eyeglass Lens, and then select Edging.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Complete the following fields:

    Description

    Name of the lens edging. This is what users see in AcuityLogic POS when they select an edging.

    View Order

    The order in which you want this attribute to appear in the drop-down list for Edging in AcuityLogic POS.

    If you type the same view order number for another edging, the options appear together in alphabetical order.

    If you enter 0, the option does not appear.

    POS View

    If selected, the item appears as an option in AcuityLogic POS.

     

    Lab Code 1

    This field no longer has functionality. Codes are mapped through the Map Partners option. See Adding Partner Codes for Eyeglass Lenses and Attributes.

     

    Lab Code 2

    This field no longer has functionality. Codes are mapped through the Map Partners option.

     

    Lab Code 3

    This field no longer has functionality. Codes are mapped through the Map Partners option.

     

    Item Fields

     

     

    Item Name

    Name of the lens edging. This should match what you typed in the Description field.

    Item Number

    A shortened version of the Description and Item Name.

    Item Type

    The type of item. Edging automatically appears.

     

    UPC Code

    This field has no functionality for lens edgings.

     

    Item Status

    The status of the attribute.

    In AcuityLogic POS (for one office) and AcuityLogic BackOffice (for all offices), you can run reports on the lens edging based on the assigned status.

     

    Financial Group

    The financial group assigned to the item. See Maintaining Financial Groups.

     

    Default Cost

    The cost of the edging attribute (although the cost is typically assigned to the complete lens).

     

    Active

    If selected, the edging is an available option when an AcuityLogic POS user creates an eyeglass lens order.

     

    Allow Zero Price

    If selected, enables users to invoice the item with no price or to change the price to $0.00 when working on a customer sale.

     

    Item Group

    Group to which the attribute should belong. You can group similar items together for use in insurance schedules, commissions, and productivity.

     

    Section Number

    This field has no functionality for lens edgings.

     

  4. To map the item to all your companies automatically, select the Auto Map to all Companies check box.
    This option is available only when you create items. If you do not select the option when you create an item or if you must update an item, map the item to individual companies from the product mapping window. See Setting Up Eyeglass Lenses for Individual Companies.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Use the Map Partners link to add partner codes if necessary.

  7. Use the Pricing link to add pricing if necessary.
