Creating an Eyeglass Lens
After you have the necessary attributes in the database, you can create an eyeglass lens for the catalog in AcuityLogic POS.
- You can export the details of the eyeglass lenses set up for an office. See Exporting Eyeglass Lens Details.
- For multitenant environments, the following setup can be performed only by administrators of the parent company. Setup and updates for individual companies can be performed after the initial setup is completed. See Setting Up Eyeglass Lenses for Individual Companies.
To create an eyeglass lens
- In AcuityLogic Admin, click Product, select Eyeglass Lens, and then select Eyeglass Lens.
- Click Create New.
- Complete the following fields:

Type
Base type for the eyeglass lens.
The drop-down list is linked from Product > Eyeglass Lens > Lens Base Type.

Material
Material for the eyeglass lens.
If the lens has more than one material, you must create multiple lenses for each option.
The drop-down list is linked from Product > Eyeglass Lens > Material.

Style
Style for the eyeglass lens.
The drop-down list is linked from Product > Eyeglass Lens > Style.

Color
Color for the eyeglass lens.
If the lens has more than one color, you must create a separate lens entry for each color.
The drop-down list is linked from Product > Eyeglass Lens > Color.

Coating
Coating for the eyeglass lens.
If the lens will be sent out for coating, then the coating is added to the order as an Extra. In that case, leave the Coating field empty.
Is Non-Inherit Coating Check this box when you choose, as a business decision, to include the coating with the lens.
If the coating is inherit to the lens (included as part of the manufacturing), do not check the box.Special Order
This field has no functionality for eyeglass lenses.
No Charge On Material
Select this check box if you do not want to add a material upcharge to the lens.
Receipt Desc
The description that you want to appear on the patient’s receipt.
Customizable Lens
Select this check box to enable users to enter a Frame Wrap, Vertex, and Pantoscopic Tilt.
Then, additional fields for these measurements appear on the patient’s eyeglass order.
Min and Max Configuration
Sphere
The sphere parameters from the highest minus (Min) to the highest plus (Max).

Cylinder
The cylinder parameters from the highest minus (Min) to the highest plus (Max).
Add
The add availability for the lens.
OC Height
The OC height parameters from the highest minus (Min) to the highest plus (Max).
SEG Height
The SEG height parameters from the highest minus (Min) to the highest plus (Max).
Item Fields
Item Name
Name that appears in the Style drop-down list in AcuityLogic Admin. This should match what you typed in the Description field.
Use the following format:
Type–Material–Style–Color–Coating (separated by hyphens)
For example:
Pg-Ply-Syn-Gr3-Alex

Item Number
A shortened version of the Item Name.

Item Type
The type of item. Eyeglass Lens automatically appears.
UPC code
This field has no functionality for eyeglass lenses.
Item Status
The status of the attribute.
In AcuityLogic POS (for one office) and AcuityLogic BackOffice (for all offices), you can run reports on the eyeglass lens based on the assigned status.
Financial Group
The financial group assigned to the item. See Maintaining Financial Groups.
Default Cost
The cost of the style attribute (although the cost is typically assigned to the complete lens).
Active
If selected, the eyeglass lens is an available option when a AcuityLogic POS user is creating an order.
Item Group
This field has no functionality for eyeglass lenses.
Section Number
This field has no functionality for eyeglass lenses.
- To map the item to all your companies automatically, select the Auto Map to all Companies check box. This option is available only when you create items. If you do not select the option when you create an item or if you must update an item, map the item to individual companies from the product mapping window. See Setting Up Eyeglass Lenses for Individual Companies.
- Click Save.
- Add codes for partners if necessary. See Adding Partner Codes for Eyeglass Lenses and Attributes.
