Editing Medications And Drug Interactions
This topic explains how to record the medications the patient takes and how to review drug interactions for the medications. The topic describes how
To add a medication
- Open the patient’s Clipboard.
For more information on opening the Clipboard, go to Accessing the Clipboard.
- Click the Medications button.
The Medications screen appears.
- In the Medication Name field, enter the first few letters of the medication name to search.
- Click the name of the medication.
The Select Dispensable window opens.
- Click the dosage for the medication.
To add the medication without specifying a dosage, click the option to add it with unspecified dispensable.
The medication is added to the patient’s Clipboard.
- Click the Print Active Meds action bar icon to print the patient's medications, if needed.
- Click Save.
To mark as no medications
- Open the patient’s Clipboard.

- Click the Medications button.
- Click Mark No Medications.
- Click Save.
To review drug interactions from the patient’s chart

Open the patient's Clipboard.
For more information on opening the Clipboard, go to Accessing the Clipboard.
- Click the Medications button.
- Click View Current Drug Interactions.
The Drug Interactions window opens and displays a list of drug interactions for the patient.
- Review the drug interactions.
- Click Close to close the Drug Interactions window.
To mark a medication as active or inactive

Open the patient’s Clipboard.

- Click the Medications button.
- To activate or inactivate a medication, use the Status toggle button.
- Click Save.
If the patient has previously filled medications electronically, you can import a list of those medications directly into Encompass. For more information, see Importing Medication History From Surescripts.
