Editing the Patient’s Personal Information

You can edit several sections of a patient's personal information, including their preferred pharmacies and portal settings. If you're using a standalone version of Eyefinity EHR with no practice management system, you'll also be able to edit the patient demographics. If you are using a practice management system, update patient demographics there, as any changes you make in Eyefinity EHR will be overridden.

This topic explains how

To edit the patient’s information

  1. Open the patient's chart.
  2. Click the Edit Patient Data button on the action bar.

The Contact Information tab of the Patient Data window appears.

Do not edit the patient's demographic or insurance information in Eyefinity EHR. That information should be updated on the practice management side of the platform.

  3. Click the Pharmacy tab to open a section where you can document the patient's preferred pharmacies.

For more information on adding a patient's pharmacy, go to Documenting a Patient's Pharmacy.

  4. Click the Practice Data tab to open a section where you can:

    • Document if the patient is new or an Established Patient
    • Assign one of your practice's doctors as the patient's Primary Provider
    • Document the name of the patient's Primary Care Provider (PCP) and/or Referring Provider

You'll only be able to document physicians who are already on your list of referral contacts. To add a referral contact, click Manage referrals. For more information, see Managing Referral Contacts.

  5. Click the Portal Settings tab to activate the patient's portal and create a username and password for them.

If the patient is a minor, use the Patient Representative Portal tab to create a username and password for the patient’s parent or guardian.

For more information on setting up either the Patient Portal or Patient Representative Portal, go to Activating a Patient's Portal.

  6. Click Save.
