Kowa Interface
ExamWRITER interacts with the Kowa Digital Fundus Camera as follows:
- Before the capture process when patient information is transferred from ExamWRITER into Kowa Capture to create or update retinal images
- During the review process when new or existing Kowa retinal images are available for on-screen review
The Kowa interface saves data to the Kowa database. You can view the images on all computers that have ExamWRITER installed and the Kowa review interface enabled.
Network Connection Method
The Kowa interface uses a serial RS-232 cable or a null modem to connect to the computer or Terminal Server.
The Kowa interface can use only one camera per Terminal Server.
- You must install ExamWRITER and the Kowa software on the computer to which the Kowa equipment is connected. You then can install the Kowa software on the server on which ExamWRITER is installed.
- Contact Kowa to determine whether the Kowa software runs on an ExamWRITER server and whether any additional licensing must be purchased when using it with Terminal Server.
