Coding a Telehealth Exam

ExamWRITER enables you to code telehealth services much like you would a typical visit when a patient is in the office. After completing ordinary exam documentation, select the billing codes that you want ExamWRITER to generate.

  1. Add the following procedure codes to ExamWRITER. For more information, see To add and modify procedure codes.
    Beginning with the ExamWRITER 15.2.3678 release, these procedure codes will automatically be added to ExamWRITER.
    • G2010: Remote eval of rec video or images sub by est pat
    • 99446: Interprof. assess and mgmt service l
    • 99447: Interprof. assess and mgmt service, 11-20 min
    • 99448: Interprof. assess and mgmt service 21-30 min
    • 99449: Interprof. assess and mgmt service 31 min +
    • 99451: Interprof phone/web/EHR assess and mgmt svc 5+min
    • 99452: Interprof phone/web/EHR assess and mgmt svc 30min
    • 99421 Online digital eval mgmt serv for est pat 5-10m
    • 99422: Online digital eval mgmt serv for est pat 11-20 min
    • 99423: Online digital eval mgmt serv for est pat 21 + min
  2. Add the following procedure modifiers to ExamWRITER. For more information, see To add & modify procedure modifiers.
    Beginning with the ExamWRITER 15.2.3678 release, these procedure codes will automatically be added to ExamWRITER.
    • GT Beneficiary present
    • TC Technical component
    • PC Professional component
    • 95 Rendered via synchronous telecommunication
    • GQ Rendered via asynchronous telecommunication
  3. Add the appropriate telehealth procedure codes and modifiers to the exam. For more information, see To select procedure codes.
