Achieving Medicare Promoting Interoperability Requirements
Promoting interoperability (PI) is worth 25% of your total MIPS score. You must complete 90-days of promoting interoperability using a 2015-edition certified EHR, like Eyefinity EHR 5.10 or later or ExamWRITER 15 or later.
Promoting interoperability is mostly the same as it was in 2019. The only notable changes do not apply to many eyecare providers:
- The Verify Opioid Treatment Agreement measure was removed.
- The Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) measure now requires a Yes/No attestation rather than a numerator and denominator.
- Groups and virtual groups qualify for an automatic reweighting of the PI category when more than 75% of the clinicians in the group are hospital based.
You must report the required measures satisfactorily to receive a PI score. You may report optional measures to move your PI score closer to 100%.
Click the measure name to learn more about that measure and how to achieve it in Eyefinity EHR or ExamWRITER.
