Viewing a Patient's Exam Orders

The Exams screen allows you to view, edit, and print exam orders created in Material Orders. If you have Eyefinity EHR integrated with Eyefinity Practice Management, you can also view, edit, and print orders for exams created in Eyefinity EHR.

To view exam orders:

  1. On the left side of the Demographics screen, click Exams.

    The Exams screen opens.

  2. If you have Eyefinity EHR integrated with Eyefinity Practice Management, or are using a certified partner telehealth integration, exams imported from these integrations display in the Pending Exams list until you use them on an order. The Source column indicates the integration used.
    • A Patient has a pending exam link displays on the patient's Demographics and Overview screens when they have at least one pending exam. You can click the link to access the Exams screen. See Reviewing and Pricing Pending Eyefinity EHR Exams for more information.
    • If your practice has more than one location, the Pending Exams grid displays only Eyefinity EHR exams that are associated with the current office in the Manage Visit Settings window in Eyefinity EHR.
    • Click a pending exam to open the Edit Exam screen.
Only providers and staff members with the Edit Exam security permission selected in Administration can edit exams. If you do not have this security permission, the Edit Exam screen opens in "read-only" mode. Click the Edit Exam link in the yellow banner at the top of the screen. An Access Denied - Temporary Override window displays, allowing another user with permission to enter their username and password and give you temporary access. For information on setting security permissions, see Setting Up Provider Security Settings and Setting Up Staff Security Settings
    • Click the Print icon to print the exam summary.
    • Click the Delete icon to remove the exam from the grid.
      • Only providers and staff members with the Delete Pending EEHR Exam security permission selected in Administration can add delete exams from the Pending Exams list. If you do not have this security permission, an Override window displays, allowing another user with permission to enter their username and password and give you temporary access. For information on setting security permissions, see Setting Up Provider Security Settings and Setting Up Staff Security Settings
  3. If you have Eyefinity EHR integrated, or are using a certified partner telehealth integration, imported exams that have missing or invalid information are displayed in the Failed Exams grid. Only the five most recent errors are shown.

    • Click the View Details link in the Error Message column to view the error message. You may need to access Eyefinity EHR or contact the telehealth provider to correct and resend the exam.

    • Click Dismiss to remove an entry from the grid.

    • Click Dismiss All to remove all entries from the grid.

  4. The patient’s exam orders display in the Exam Orders History grid.
    • Click an exam to edit it.
Only providers and staff members with the Edit Exam security permission selected in Administration can edit exams. If you do not have this security permission, an Access Denied - Temporary Override window displays, allowing another user with permission to enter their username and password and give you temporary access. For information on setting security permissions, see Setting Up Provider Security Settings and Setting Up Staff Security Settings
    • Click the Print icon to print the exam summary.

The icons in the Invoiced column indicate whether an exam has been invoiced. If the ! icon appears, the exam is part of a pending order and has not been invoiced.
