Submitting Maui Jim Lab Orders & Claims

Maui Jim has joined the VSP Formulary and VSP Contract Lab Network, making it easier and quicker for VSP network doctors who are authorized Maui Jim retailers to submit Maui Jim claims for VSP members. Eyefinity is confident that this addition of Maui Jim will help ensure that patients with VSP benefits receive increased value and cost savings on authentic Maui Jim Sun prescription lenses with their best-in-class warranty. If you are not a Maui Jim authorized retailer, learn how to become one.

VSP patients can now order Maui Jim lenses and frames from authorized Maui Jim retailers using their VSP benefits. Patient out-of-pocket expenses will be automatically calculated at the time of the order. Although you can place VSP patients' Maui Jim frame and lens orders on eyefinity.com, we encourage you to use OfficeMate and the VSP Interface for a more streamlined experience.

Step 1: Install OfficeMate 15.2 or Above

If you have not already installed OfficeMate 15.2 or above, do that first. For more information, go to Installing and Upgrading.

Step 2: Update/Add Maui Jim Lenses to OfficeMate

  1. Retrieve the latest Lens List in the Lens Product Loader. For more information, go to To download lens product lists (step 1).
  2. Load the Maui Jim lenses that you sell in your practice using the Lens Product Loader. For more information, go to To load lens products into OfficeMate (step 2).

Step 3: Submit Maui Jim Lab Orders to the Maui Jim Lab & Claims to VSP

The following nine Maui Jim polarized lenses with AR coatings that, due to their having four or more "other" attributes, can only be ordered using the OfficeMate VSP Interface in OfficeMate 15.2.3565 or above.

If you are using older version of OfficeMate, submit lab orders through eLab and claims through eClaim.

For successful processing, Maui Jim orders must be created using the correct frame and lens combinations.

  1. Record lab orders for Maui Jim frames and lenses as you normally do using the VSP Interface. For more information, go to Recording VSP Orders. View Maui Jim's VSP Ordering Guide and the table below to understand the various frame and lens combinations that are allowed. The Maui Jim VSP Ordering Guide provides a visual reference that you can use to confirm the selections that you need to make in online claims in order to correctly order Maui Jim prescription lenses.

    Maui Jim Plano SunN/AMaui Jim plano sunglass frames do not contain "MJRX" in the color name and do not start with "MJ" in the name. They cannot be submitted with a prescription eyeglass order.
    Maui Jim Sun Rx Maui Jim onlyMaui Jim Sun Rx frames contain "MJRX" in the color name, must have a Maui Jim lens, and must be sent to the Maui Jim Lab (0584). They can be submitted with a prescription eyeglass order.

    		Maui Jim Sun Rx lenses cannot be ordered with non-Maui Jim frames.
  2. Submit all Maui Jim lens and sunglass lab orders to the Maui Jim Lab (0584).
  3. Submit all claims to VSP as you normally do. For more information, go to Recording VSP Fee Slips.

Be careful not to change the wholesale cost or enter "proprietary" under the special instructions. These actions negatively impact your reimbursement.
