Understanding Promoting Interoperability Requirements
Promoting interoperability (PI) is worth 25% of your total MIPS score. You must complete 90 continuous days of promoting interoperability using a 2015-edition "Cures Update" certified EHR, like Eyefinity EHR 7.0 or later or ExamWRITER 15.3 or later.
In this section, you’ll find the following topics:
- Achieving Promoting Interoperability Requirements
- Meeting the Certified EHR Requirement
- Understanding Measure Scoring
- Understanding Hardship Exceptions
- Publishing Your Digital Contact Information
Small practices (practices with 15 or fewer eligible clinicians) may opt out of the Promoting Interoperability category. CMS will automatically reweight the PI category to 0% for all small practices, unless those practices choose to report any PI data.
ExamWRITER users who intend to meet the Promoting Interoperability criteria must use the ExamWRITER patient and provider portal.
